Bears will be working on Christmas day

The Cal Bears football team won’t get any rest on Christmas day. With their final game this Saturday evening, there’s just not enough time for them to take a complete day off. According to the Emerald Bowl schedule, the Bears will be practicing from 2:15 pm PST to 4:30 pm PST at Memorial Stadium.
So far, Nate Longshore is handling first-team snaps in practice. While it would be nice for the senior to start in his final game at Cal, it’s strange that he would get the starter’s role when Kevin Riley has been doing the job without any major errors.
Over at the Cal Bears Examiner , I brought up a few points about why he deserves to start. There are plenty of reason that he shouldn’t, but the simple fact remains - he’s one of the most prolific quarterbacks the Bears have ‘raised’ all-time.
Earlier this season, in an interview he was asked about getting a fair shot at a starting job. Sarcastically he replied, “I played a total of four games this year. I think I got a fair shake. Sixteen quarters, that’s nice.“ That’s a pretty good indication that he’s not thrilled with his opportunities.
There is definitely one thing that he and I agree on, “I’m going to play in the NFL, and it will all work out. I’m confident I can play. I know I can. I always enjoy going out and proving people wrong.“
To you and your family from Cal Bears Today, Merry Christmas. We hope that you have a very safe and happy holiday.
