Cal Bears thump Big Green

Cal head coach, Mike Montgomery has been worried about his teams’ defense since he took over earlier this year. One thing he doesn’t seem to have to worry about is their offense. The Bears lead college basketball in three-point-percentage with 51.0% from beyond the three-point arc.
Saturday, they weren’t too bad at scoring either. The Golden Bears dusted the Dartmouth Big Green 98-62 in front of a sparse crowd of around 2,000 fans. Many of the Bear Backers have trekked across the bay today to root-on the football team in their final game of the season at the Emerad Bowl.
“We were able to get what we wanted against them,” Montgomery stated after the game. “Just about anything we tried, we were open. That’s why the ball went inside. It wasn’t so much a conscious effort. If a guy is open inside, we have to hit him. They were pretty athletic on the perimeter. We were able to drive and get the ball inside There really wasn’t any reason to take threes.“
So true…so true. The Bears played everyone on the team that could play with 10 players getting more than 10 minutes of time on the court. Jerome Randle was once again the catalyst that made everything go for the Bears. He scored 15 points, had 8 assists, 5 rebounds, and a steal in only 24 minutes of play.
This was the first game in the 16th Annual Colliers International Golden Bear Classic. They’ll next face the winner of the Air Force and Portland matchup taking place Saturday evening. That game will be 5pm Sunday, December 28, at Haas Pavilion.
